2016 Missouri Senatorial Race 

The reason why this specific senatorial race is as close as it is in Missouri is partially due to Trump voters and how Jason Kander has capitalized on their desire for a new face for the government. Just like Trump supporters are for a change in Washington, Kander supporters are for a change in the incumbent in this race (Blunt). Kander, from the beginning of his campaign, has capitalized on one phrase: “We can’t change Washington if we don’t change the people we send there.” This has been his central catchphrase and has certainly been a big game-changer in order to win over supporters. Republicans have claimed that Jason Kander is the “perfect candidate” in a republican dominated state due to his army background and straight-talking style that so many republicans identify with in conservative states. This makes Kander invulnerable to the attacks that most GOP candidates use against their democratic counterparts.
